Cywain | Harvest

It was great to receive a copy of Nerys Howell's latest book Cywain | Harvest today which we worked on together earlier this year. Published by Y Lolfa, the book is a celebration of eating locally and seasonally, using fresher, better quality ingredients and more nutritious foods.



A beautiful drive up to Dolgellau in North Wales to photograph the first phase of the renovation of this stunning hotel as well as some of the incredible food by head chef Thomas Hine. Now part of the Seren Collection, the hotel will be refurbished throughout in stages.

Food sustainability

An interesting and slightly different food shoot earlier this month, photographing recipes using food items that are often discarded such as carrot tops, potato skins and coffee grounds to promote food sustainability. Surprisingly tasty results! Food styling by Nerys Howel.

The Grove Hotel and Fernery Restaurant

Bilingual family cookbook

Lots more food in the studio this month as I photographed recipes for a new bilingual cookbook due to be released later in the year by Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales. 'Cegin Ni/Our Kitchen' is a bilingual cookbook created to get kids in the kitchen and the whole family cooking delicious meals together.

Nerys Howel: Welsh Food By Season

An exciting delivery today as I received some copies of the recipe book I worked on with food stylist Nerys Howel earlier this. The photography for this was interrupted by the first Covid 19 lockdown but was a welcome distraction during some tricky months as we returned to work. The book was designed and produced by Welsh publisher Y Lolfa.

Seren Collection

A combined trip to Coast Saundersfoot and The Grove, Narberth for a full day of photography including some more incredible dishes by Tom Hine at Coast and Douglas Balish at The Grove.

Food recipes

I had a number of enjoyable days in the studio in December working with food stylist Nerys Howel on a number of recipes promoting Welsh produce. There’s a lot of incredible food being produced in Wales and it’s a joy to showcase some of it.



I spent an enjoyable day photographing these amazing cocktails in the studio over the summer for a bar menu. We did stay sober - honest!

The Grove - Spring

In addition to their guest chef evening, I’ve also been at The Grove during the spring season to cover the extensive gardens in their spring glory and also the new food menu developed by executive chef Allister Barsby. It’s no wonder The Grove was voted Welsh Hotel of the Year by the Good Hotel Guide for 2016.

I had a great day/evening at The Grove in March photographing their latest Guest Chef Evening with the renowned Michael Wignall and his team from Gidleigh Park. Truly incredible food was enjoyed by a full dining room of guests who seemed to be having a great time!


Bistrot Pierre

I’ve photographed a few more of Bistrot Pierre’s latest restaurants as they continue to expand their successful business into new areas throughout the UK and also been involved in photographing their new spring/summer menu. It’s also been pleasure to sample some of their delicious menu at the shoots!!
