I’ve recently shot some more floodlighting systems for a long standing client. This was a particular favourite - it’s the Football Association of Wales’ new training facility in Newport:

Fly fishing - a whole new world!

I’ve spent a number of days in the past few weeks photographing fishing flies. It’s a subject I know little about but I’ve been amazed at how many different flies are available and how intricate they are! Technically it was challenging as we had to devise a system for photographing over 2000 flies as quickly as possible without compromising quality - not easy when you see how small some of the flies actually are! Here’s a couple of images from the shoot:

If you’re into fishing, then you might want to have a look at www.hartleyfly.com and browse their huge range of flies. The new images are still being uploaded but should be in place sometime in January 2012.

Interesting locations!

I’ve been shooting in some ‘interesting’ locations the past couple of weeks. Two that spring to mind are a pub toilet and a bleak mountain railway, both shoots for theatre productions. Here’s an on-set shot and a couple of images from the shoots:

Studio on location!

Well it’s been a while since my last blog entry. It’s been a busy year and the blog entries sort of fell by the wayside unfortunately. I’ve had quite a few interesting shoots recently one being a request to do a large studio shoot but...on location! The subject was airline seating but due to logistical issues, the seats were only available to be shot on 1 day and it had to be in their factory. Here’s a shot from the set:

And here’s one of the images from the shoot:

National Theatre Wales Year 2 Launch

Here’s some pics from the set of the recent shoot I did for NTW’s Year 2 launch art directed by the talented guys from Elfen:

And here’s the final campaign image:

Food, glorious food!

I’ve had the pleasure of shooting some nice food recipes this month working with the wonderful food stylist, Alison Huw and Howel Food Consultancy. Here are a couple of my favourites from the shoot:

Ghost mannequin shoot

I had an interesting technical challenge earlier this month when I was asked to shoot a new clothing range for the WRU and the request was for an invisible mannequin. Here’s a couple of the images and one of the ads they were shot for:

In the studio a lot this month

Well I seem to have been shooting in the studio quite a bit this month though that’s probably not a bad thing for January in Wales! Here’s an image from a shoot for a local wine merchant:

And here’s one of me (precariously!) setting up a shot for a local design agency’s portfolio:

I spent the run up to Christmas photographing hotel interiors for a hotel group with a number of hotels in the South Wales area. Here’s a small selection of images from those shoots:

Amazing homes

I’ve had the pleasure of shooting some nice places over the past couple of months. Here are a couple of images from one of those shoots:

Long shadows and exposure blending

Well the sun is well and truly dropping in the sky now and those long shadow areas are more prevalent. But now we are able to take advantage of exposure blending and I seem to have been doing a lot of it this month! Here are a couple of examples from this month where I’ve taken multiple exposures of a scene and blended them to keep detail in shadow and highlight areas:

Arthritis testing website

Some more studio work from earlier this summer has gone live this week at www.arthritishometest.com. Lots of paint involved with this one - I’m still finding specks of blue and yellow paint around the studio 3 months later!! Lots of respect to our very patient and accommodating model Claudia, who endured a whole day of myself and Chris from the ad agency, repeatedly covering her in paint!

Spire Healthcare ads

Had my first sightings this weekend on a couple of taxis and a billboard of some the Spite Healthcare ads that I photographed earlier in the summer. I really enjoyed these shoots - the real ‘models’ from Spire were delightful to work with and got into the shoot really quickly despite not having any previous experience of a photoshoot, while Martyn Williams from the Cardiff Blues was a very natural model and also very patient!

New website - at last!

Well I’ve finally got round to getting the new website up - special thanks to those people who gave me feedback over the past few months (you know who you are!). I wanted something uncomplicated and clean (hopefully that’s what comes across!) and that works on multiple devices (Mr Jobs pretty much forced me down the non-flash route!). Let me know what you think - suggestions to improve the site always welcome!
